SEN Settings

Made Together Music is designed to make music creation genuinely accessible within SEN settings. Sessions can be adapted around the needs, interests and communication styles of each group, whether participants are exploring instruments for the first time, creating electronic music, writing lyrics, recording vocals or contributing through rhythm, sound selection and group decision-making. The aim is to create an environment where there is no pressure to perform in a particular way and where every participant can play a meaningful part in the finished music. Projects can be shaped around sensory needs, confidence levels, mobility, communication support and the pace that works best for the group.

Our approach is informed by extensive experience working directly with children, young people and adults with additional support needs. Made Together Music’s founder has worked in SEN education and community services for many years, supporting individuals across a wide range of needs, including autism, learning disabilities and complex support needs. This experience has included classroom-based learning, accredited education, transition support, community participation and the delivery of creative and music-based activities. Alongside a background in music production and live performance, this gives Made Together Music an understanding of both the creative process and the importance of patience, flexibility, structure and person-centred support when working within SEN environments.
